A new 700 student K-5 school for the growing Oxmoor Valley area of Birmingham includes 31 classrooms with interactive smartboards, a 300 seat cafeteria, PE gym with a platform stage for school assemblies, media center, choral, music and art labs. This was the first new school in the state of Alabama to include the newly required ICC-500 storm shelter mandated by the legislature for all new K-12 school buildings. Davis worked closely with the State Building Commission to jointly understand and implement the often difficult storm shelter codes. Within a year the new school was at full capacity with the school system reporting that parents were moving into the area so their children could attend the new state of the art facility.
