This was the first school in the Birmingham School District to incorporate Pre-Kindergarten classrooms. Davis Architects helped the school system develop their design program for Pre-K classrooms. In addition, the 600-student school was designed as an "Academy" to place focus on math and science for elementary age children. The building includes 30 classrooms, an art lab, choral/music room, and science labs. The PE gym incorporates a platform stage so the gym can be used for school assemblies. The colorful cafeteria seats 300 students and allows for a minimum number of lunch periods.
