First Presbyterian Church

The new student center for First Presbyterian Church of Auburn takes the place of a recently fire destroyed student center built in the 1960’s.  The design for the new center relies on the use of brick, stone, and stucco, and take advantage of a metal building system to house the multi-purpose space for economical reasons.  The composition of the exterior is highlighted through the use of a cylindrical chapel, curved masonry front, two-story metal building component with clerestory, simple masonry rear, and stone accented arcades.  The interior contains a large multi-purpose space, kitchen, restroom facilities, offices, study room, dining hall, bible study, kitchenette, chapel, two apartments, and common room.  The new student center is linked to the existing church educational building via a three-story elevator and stair tower.
