Crestline Elementary School
Hartselle City Schools
In May of 2022, Davis was selected by Hartselle City Schools to design a new Pre-K-4th grade school to replace the existing 1951 Crestline Elementary. We devised a master plan to construct the new 800 student facility on the existing play fields, while keeping the current school open for the duration of construction. The school contains 45 classrooms, robotics lab, math/science labs, new gymnasium with stage, cafeteria, 1000 person capacity FEMA rated storm shelter and the Special Needs facility for all elementary students in the school district. The construction is in a well established neighborhood so the scale of the project as it relates to the existing neighborhood was a major design concern. Exposed laminated wood beams and fieldstone are used at the main entry and throughout the “Main Street” corridor to help give the building a welcoming front door to the community.
