After designing the Birmingham CrossPlex athletic facility in 2010, Davis developed a master plan for the remaining 90 acres of the old Alabama State Fairgrounds. Several retail development projects came out of that plan, including a Starbucks, Walgreens and a 101-room, 4-story Comfort Inn and Suites.

The hotel was designed using a traditional wood framing system, both for economy and to facilitate an aggressive construction schedule. There are multiple bedroom types, a 100-person meeting room and prep area to serve a daily breakfast. The hotel is frequently used by athletes competing at CrossPlex in various NCAA track & field and swimming events.
