As the city’s signature facility, the Trussville Community Center’s multifunctional design provides a variety of recreational and civic opportunities for the community. It features an exhibition hall for 1,200 people, full catering kitchen, double-court gymnasium, indoor running track, fitness center, and meeting rooms. An axial promenade of brick pavers leads from the parking lot to the entrance portico, which features exposed wood trusses on piers clad in local field stone. Inside, visitors are greeted by a soaring lobby filled with natural light from a large clerestory above. The stained, polished concrete floors and ground-face concrete block walls create a sense of solidity and strength, while the open running track overhead bridges the fitness and social sectors of the building.
