Trussville City Schools asked for a state of the art educational facility to provide its students with a variety of learning opportunities, while being respectful of the adjacent Cahaba River. The new school design mixes school work and the outdoors with lots of natural light, a variety of flexible teaching environments, with plenty of room for extra-curricular activities such as athletics, drama, band, and dance.

The latest buzz...The new Hewitt-Trussville High School designed by Davis Architects has received the Cahaba River Society’s 2007 Blue-Green Design Innovation Award for its low-impact design that maintains a high degree of protection for the fragile river. Now under construction, the new high school is also designing a curriculum that will embrace the river as a teaching tool.
