Coleman Coliseum

Tuscaloosa, Alabama
University of Alabama Completed 2005

The University of Alabama Athletic Department selected Davis Architects to turn an aging sports complex originally built during the 1960s into a modern athletic facility more in keeping with the University’s traditional architecture. The Coliseum’s main entrance was updated, a new 300-seat club lounge and a new catering kitchen were created, restrooms and concession spaces along the main concourse were expanded, and the recruiting lounge was improved. In the arena, new seating, sound system and acoustical treatments were installed and – to improve safety – new stairs, elevators, ADA-compliant ramps, fire suppression systems and lighting controls were added. Locker rooms and training rooms were reconfigured and refurbished, existing office spaces were revamped and renovated, and ticket offices were enlarged.
